Checking In – 1/10/16

I was almost caught up. I had almost caught up!! Then.. I didn’t finish, then I let a week get in between, and another week, and another.. And here I am, over a month behind on posts. Totally my fault. We’ve been busy, and I haven’t made the time to just sit down and update my blog.

It totally doesn’t help that I’ve been going like every freaking day. I mean, it’s awesome and all, that I’ve had a fire lit under my ass to go to the gym so frequently, but it sucks when I don’t come home right away and update my site.

I will be making an effort to do this all week! I have lots to share, lots to post. I feel great, I love that I’ve been dedicated at the gym, I’ve hit some PRs, and yeah. Life is good.

Crossfit Day 547 – Thrusters – As Many as Possible! – 11/30/15

YES. This was a challenge. Total challenge. Bring it on. So the WOD was

in 10 minutes, do as many thrusters as you can. Whatever weight you choose.

The catch is, when you break a set or put the bar down, you have to do 5 burpees. YEAH. I did my first 50 or so unbroken. Stupid burpees. Then I did 30 and then 25 and then whatever, for a total of 115 thrusters at 45lbs. 🙂

My total weight moved was 5175, and I was so proud of that!!!

It was also squat day.

175 lbs. Warm Up Weight.
175 lbs. Warm Up Weight.

Crossfit Day 544 – Bring a Friend Day – 11/25/15

So, sometimes on Bring a Friend Days, I like to work on my own and not have to either burden or hold a partner back, or, basically, double challenge myself to work harder and independently. Guess it goes back to technically being an only child.. Doesn’t always play well with others. Selfish. A loner. Prefers to do it her own way. You know…

22 Min AMRAP
Partner 1:
400m run (skipped this part!)
Partner 2:
10 slam balls
15 wall balls
20 ab mat sit ups

Did 20lb wall balls instead of 16. Finished 7 rounds + 3. Hell yes.

Wodding with my girl, Bre. 🙂

Crossfit Day 543 – Starting with WAG – 11/24/15

I took some time off because I went up north to see my Mommy again! It was awesome and we had a great time, and my time with her is never enough! I also started my Flexible Dieting with WAG where you literally count and weigh every single thing you eat, and calculate your macros according to your goals. I don’t want to get into the details of it just yet, but as I progress on, I will talk about it more. I began tracking my macros and getting in the hang of weighing my food and all that, and it was a great head start for me.

The day I landed back in FL, I made sure to get to the gym. The WOD was the following:

1000m row for time
100 DU buy in
21-15-9
push press (95/65)
KB (70/55)
Burpees (I ended up doing push ups for my foot)
100 DU buy out

I PRed my 1000m row time and got 4:03.

I finished the WOD in 12:42, and it was great!

Crossfit Day 541 – Saturday WOD – 11/14/15

I have no record of this WOD, except for this photo. There was rowing, KBs, and burpees. According to my Facebook…

I did burpees today for the first time in over 8 weeks since fracturing my foot. I’ve never been so excited to do burpees and they actually felt amazing. I love that I’m healing, that I’m committed to putting in the hard work and the rewards I’m reaping as a result.

So there you have it.

Crossfit Day 540 – Three Wise Men – 11/11/15

In honor of our heroes, we did a Tribute WOD called Three Wise Men, and you can find out more information about it here:

The WOD was actually 3 separate WODs.

“Jeremy”
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
5 Hang Squat Snatch (Elite = 185/125 lbs, RX = 135/95 lbs, Scaled = 95/65 lbs)
10 Burpees Over the Barbell

Rest 2 minutes, and then…

“Ben”
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
10 Power Cleans (Elite = 185/125 lbs, RX = 135/95 lbs, Scaled = 95/65 lbs)
20 Pull-Ups

Rest 2 minutes, and then…

“Beau”
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 4 minutes of:
15 Box Jump-Overs (Elite & RX = 24”/20”; Scaled – 24”/20” Step-Overs Allowed)
30 Wall Ball Shots (Elite & RX = 20/14 lbs; Scaled – 14/8 lbs)

We had an awesome turnout, and it was a great way to honor our soldiers and veterans!

I ended up completing 55/50/57 reps but I subbed the burpees for push ups. If you compare my score to others, I freaking KILLED IT. I’ll take it.

Crossfit Day 539 – 2015 CrossFit Liftoff – 11/8/15

So I signed up for a nice little competition that I found out about by chance. It was called the 2015 CrossFit Liftoff, Sponsored by Rogue (nice title, guys, pack it all in there..) It was a strength-based competition and set up on an international format, sort of like The Open, but it all took place in one weekend, and you had 3 things to be scored on, and it was divided up by weight class, in addition to RX and Scaled.

Max 1RM Snatch
Max 1RM Clean & Jerk
WOD

I was still concerned about the WOD, because that would make or break me, depending. I also hadn’t been lifting to my max since I broke my foot, so I wasn’t sure how high I could go.

The WOD ended up being such that I was better of scaling. Although I found out later that I would have placed HIGHER had I done the RX, and took a 0 for what I couldn’t do, instead of doing it ALL on the scaled level, silly.

RX Workout

Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:
3 snatches
6 clean and jerks
9 chest-to-bar pull-ups
54 double-unders
M 135 lb., F 105 lb.

Scaled Workout

Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:
3 snatches
6 clean and jerks
9 pull-ups
54 single-unders
M 95 lb., F 65 lb.

I scored 125lbs for my snatch, 180 for my C&J and I got 2 full rounds + 3 – 6 – 9 – 36 reps.  My snatch I scored 10lbs under my all time highest of 135, and then I scored 5lbs OVER my last max C&J, but 5lbs under my last max squat clean. Oh well! I was still happy with that.

I ended up placing 21st out of 65 or something. Pretty cool.

Crossfit Day 538 – Snatches and Cleans – 11/4/15

Lots of snatches, a few cleans. I love power cleans! We had the WOD and then we had to find our 1RM Clean right after, in 4 minutes. So here was the WOD:

7 min AMRAP
75 DU (singles for me)
7 Power Snatch 75/35
7 Burpees over Bar (I did push ups instead, because foot)
7 Power Snatch 105/55
7 Burpees
7 Power Snatch 135/75
7 Burpees
7 Power Snatch 165/95
7 Burpees
7 Power Snatch 195/115

and so on..

Your total reps is your score. So I did 75 singles, which doesn’t count in your score, and then I completed 39 reps of the burpees and snatches stuff.

Moving on to 1RM Clean, I ended up getting 175 lbs, which is 10lbs off my current PR!  I was super excited. 🙂
