So I signed up for a nice little competition that I found out about by chance. It was called the 2015 CrossFit Liftoff, Sponsored by Rogue (nice title, guys, pack it all in there..) It was a strength-based competition and set up on an international format, sort of like The Open, but it all took place in one weekend, and you had 3 things to be scored on, and it was divided up by weight class, in addition to RX and Scaled.
Max 1RM Snatch
Max 1RM Clean & Jerk
WOD
I was still concerned about the WOD, because that would make or break me, depending. I also hadn’t been lifting to my max since I broke my foot, so I wasn’t sure how high I could go.
The WOD ended up being such that I was better of scaling. Although I found out later that I would have placed HIGHER had I done the RX, and took a 0 for what I couldn’t do, instead of doing it ALL on the scaled level, silly.
RX Workout
Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:
3 snatches
6 clean and jerks
9 chest-to-bar pull-ups
54 double-unders
M 135 lb., F 105 lb.
Scaled Workout
Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:
3 snatches
6 clean and jerks
9 pull-ups
54 single-unders
M 95 lb., F 65 lb.
I scored 125lbs for my snatch, 180 for my C&J and I got 2 full rounds + 3 – 6 – 9 – 36 reps. My snatch I scored 10lbs under my all time highest of 135, and then I scored 5lbs OVER my last max C&J, but 5lbs under my last max squat clean. Oh well! I was still happy with that.
I ended up placing 21st out of 65 or something. Pretty cool.
