According to the Erins, I am now an officially certified Crossfitter! They said it, and I’m running with it, and that’s that. haha What does this mean, you ask?? It means I completed my 3 days of elements training, learning some of the basic movements necessary so I don’t look like the idiot who has no idea what’s going on during the workouts. (Although I’m sure I’ll still have plenty of opportunities to make a fool out of myself..)
Anyway, today I learned about the snatch. Yes… that’s what it’s called. I have no idea why. I’m terrible at doing these movements in slow motion, because I try to apply every single technical part of the movement to what I’m doing, and I end up overthinking the whole thing, and then I do it wrong. (SNATCH, ur doin it wrong!) But when I do them more quickly, I seem to grasp the ideas better. I need to work on this one though.
Also, did some easy stuff on the rings (the only easy stuff on the rings, really..) Just learning how to keep my hands and arms tightly secured to my sides, while putting my weight into it.
For my WOD today, I had to do decreasing rounds, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 of the following:
Overhead Squats (10 the first round, then 9 the second round, 8, and so on)
Calorie Row (10 calories the first round, 9 the second, 8 the third and so on..)
Box Jumps (same as above, 10 the first round, then 9, then 8, etc)
Man, it was hard!! It was awesome though. My biggest thing is wanting to stay on my toes for balance, but I’m supposed to put more weight into my heels instead. My dad always taught me that if you’re going to fall, fall forward! So I naturally put my weight on my toes.. Well, today I lost my balance a few times, trying to learn how to put my weight on my heels instead. (No I didn’t fall, thankfully!) But yeah, I’m re-learning all sorts of good stuff by doing Crossfit.
I had a drum and bass CD playing that Dave had burned for me. It was one of the ones I just kept in the truck and listened to whenever there was nothing good on the radio.. Well, I took that in on Wednesday to play, since it was just Erin M and me. Well, Erin put it on for me today since I was her only trainee today, and Erin #2 (it’s the only way I can differentiate during storytelling! Really, you’re both Erin #1s..) So yeah, Erin #2 is like, holy hell I need a glowstick for this stuff! She was trying to keep up with the beat, and it was way too fast. Hah. Sorry Erin!! That was my CD. No hard feelings, don’t worry.
I think I redeemed myself when I let her know about the Tool concert we’d be attending on Tuesday, though. Phew!
I’m attempting to get up early enough to go to Crossfit Inertia tomorrow at 9 am. It’s a free class, but the catch is, you have to bring someone new for them to try it! Well, all my friends are too chicken (or busy..) to go. I tried!! I won’t STFU about it though.. I’ve definitely done my part in spreading the word. We’ll see how sore I am after tomorrow morning’s class!
