Crossfit Day 179 – Fight Gone What? – Dave’s FIRST DAY OF CROSSFIT! – 12/19/12

Ooh good times. Fight Gone What??

3 rounds- 5 stations- 1 min at each station

Shuttle Runs 10m Forward 10m Back wards
Wall balls
KB 55/35
T2B (I used the rings)
Burpees

My score was 187!

Those were hard.. It was good! I love these kinds of WODs. Doable, hard, but not so hard that I want to cry. They push me to do reps. My score is my rep count. It’s according to my own ability.

This was ALSO Dave’s first day of Crossfit.  He swore he’d never go, to the point where I quit asking him to come. He said several weeks ago, that if he was willing to try Pilates, he might as well try Crossfit, and I about died.. This didn’t say WHEN he was coming, just that he was willing to go ONCE.

So… the other night, I get home, he walks by me in the kitchen, and I said hey.. wanna go to Crossfit? 😀 😀 😀

He goes.. Mmm…. *thinking about it* Okay.

EEEE!!!! Let’s go get dressed!!!

So we went. He killed it. He did like SIX ROPE CLIMBS! And 24″ box jumps, and KB swings. AND he threw up. So proud!!! SO PROUD OF HIM. oh man… *beaming*

Crossfit Day 178 – Hero JT – 12/17/12

HERO JT

WOD consists of:

21-15-9
HSPU
Rind Dips
pushups

Harder than I thought it would be! Was definitely an upper body/arm killer. It was weird to not be out of breath or sweaty, but to be unable to do any more push ups. Biceps and forearms were on fire.

Finished in 11:28. About average when comparing to the rest of the box. 🙂

Crossfit Day 177 – 12/16/12

Saturday’s WOD was Filthy 50, but I ended up not going. I had other stuff going on that day, so I went in Sunday instead and did my own workout! Alicia’s Terrible 25. haaa.

Something like (but not in the following order)

25 box jumps
25 jumping pull ups
25 KB swings (35lbs)
25 burpees
25 sit ups
25 walking lunges
25 knees to elbows
25 push press (35lbs)
25 wall balls

Crossfit Day 176 – 12/14/12

Max Log Clean and Jerk/ Viper Press

I maxed out at 105lbs. It’s bulky and hard for me to move. 🙁 Even though they had me teach/demonstrate some of the movements. 🙂 That was pretty cool.

Crossfit Day 175 – 12 Days of Christmas – Best Workout Ever! – 12/12/12

This is hands down one of my most favorite workouts EVER. The 12 Days of Christmas WOD. Here it is in its plain form.

100m Run
2 HSPUs
3 Hang Cleans 155/115
4 Lunges 45/25
5 Ball Slams 30/20
6 sit ups
7 wall balls 20/16
8 box jumps 24/20
9 push ups
10 KB swings 55/35
11 pull ups
12 burpees

Sounds like no big deal, oh yeah, pshh easy!

Yeah..

You do it to the 12 Days of Christmas song.. on the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
onnnneee hundred meter run!
On the 2nd day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 2 Handstand Push ups, and a one hundred meter run..
On the 3rd day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 3 hang cleans, 2 handstand push ups and a one hundred meter run..

get it??

All the way to 12. Thank GOD burpees were last! hahahaha Because of the shitty rain and mud, we had the option to row instead of run, so I did that. It saved my arch, big time!

Everything else was awesome, simply awesome!! I finished in 39:30. We had a 45 min time cap. Some people didn’t even finish!

Favorite WOD… Definitely top 5!! I loved it. Someone even commented on how fast I was moving between stations. I LOVE fast reps like that! That same kid told me later that he couldn’t believe I was almost 32.. That he thought I was for sure like 26 or something. I’ll take it!

All Because of Crossfit – Before and After Progress Weight Loss Photos – 12/12/12

I was initially going to wait until my 1 year anniversary to do something like this, but usually when I get it in my head that I want to do something, I don’t rest until I do it, or until I decide I don’t want to do it anymore, hahaha.

Soo anyway. I started compiling pictures last night (12/10/12) and began putting them together earlier this afternoon. Now it’s 12/12/12 and it’s pretty cool to post this at 12:12a on 12/12/12 OMGZ.

Anyway, enjoy!  Here’s my All Because of Crossfit Collage. It’s a collection of my before and during photos.. Progress photos of my weight loss since starting Crossfit and eating a mostly Paleo diet. I am a work in progress! Not really Before and After yet, since I still have a long ways to go. 🙂 I’m pretty proud of myself.

Crossfit Day 174 – Bring a Friend Day! – 12/11/12

Bring a Friend Days are always fun, and they are always a surprise! I went to the 10a class today, because I was doing my CPR class in the afternoon with Jenny and Justin at the gym.

The 10a classes are usually pretty light, so this was a good one. I opted to row today instead of run, as my foot’s finally feeling almost completely better. Very minimal pain the last day or so, which has been wonderful.

Our WOD was the following:

1 partner runs 400m while the other does the following:

1 Round =
5 burpees
10 push ups
15 jumping squats
15 KB swings
20 fire hose slams

When the running person comes in, they take over where the other person left off, and the other person then goes and runs.

My partner today was Annie, and we completed 6 rounds, total. I was so glad I rowed instead! Really made a difference for my foot, I think. I’ll know tomorrow, for sure.

USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Level 1 Certification 12/9-10/12

Since I’m already piling on the certs, I figured the USAW one would be a good one to add to my collection! Our very own Oly Coach, Jesse Reynolds, was hosting one at Crossfit Total Control this past weekend, which was AWESOME. Meant I didn’t have to go anywhere new, or outside of my comfort zone! And I’d be around people I knew! Very happy.

We spent both Saturday and Sunday going over Cleans, Jerks and Snatches. Over and over and over and over and over. Drills. Power Position, Above the Knee, Below the Knee, from the ground. Split Jerks, Power Jerks. Even though we only used the 45lb bars for the most part, (sometimes with a little weight) I was EXHAUSTED by the end of each day. Definitely not what I expected! I wasn’t sore, like workout-sore, but I was drained, fatigued, achy, it was weird. It was more like I had been moving furniture all day or something.

Anyway, it was totally worth it! Leah and I both took and passed our exams before the rest of the group, and the rest was history. 🙂

My Group for my USAW Sport Performance Coach Level 1 Cert, with Jesse Reynolds

And.. I love this picture! This is from Saturday, when there was the big Saturday WOD at our Crossfit box. A few of the USAW guys had never seen or been a part of Crossfit before, and they were all watching with amazement as everyone did this crazy Century Holiday WOD.

Onlookers. We were watching everyone else during the WOD. I’m in the doorway on the far right.

Crossfit Day 173 – Rope Climbs Hell – 12/6/12

Rope Climbs. I love them, but I hate them. I love that I can do them now, I hate that I can’t RX the WODs with them yet! (Well, not if there are more than 2 or 3 consecutive rope climbs, anyway..)

I went to this one KNOWING I’d have a tough time. I still get excited to do rope climbs, and I still get nervous as shit!

We started out with pull ups.. I’m still doing banded, so, whatever. Frustrating, but one thing at a time, I suppose.

3 Attempts max pullups for total.
I got 15, 11, and 12. (banded, unbroken pullups)

Then the WOD.
Started out with 1000M Row.
5 Rope Climbs 15′
10 Wall Balls 20/16#
10 KTE
4 Rope Climbs 15′
15 Wall Balls 20/16#
10KTE
3 Rope Climbs 15′
20 Wall Balls 20/16#
10 KTE
2 Rope Climbs 15′
25 Wall Balls 20/16#
10 KTE
1 Rope Climbs 15′
30 Wall Balls 20/16#

I cut mine down.. I scaled it to something that I thought would be more achievable for my abilities.
I did 3, 2, 1, 1, 1 rope climbs, but the last 2 I had to do the cheeseball sissy rope-lowering deals instead of actual climbs.

There were 3 separate times where I almost started crying, because I felt defeated. But I teared up, sucked it up, and kept on going.

I was so glad when that one was done..

Crossfit Day 172 – Elite/Sweeten Status – 12/4/12

Of course, here I go again, waiting to post about an awesome day. On Tuesday, we had an amazing WOD. It was hard, I struggled, grunted and yelled my way through it.

We started out with some Atlas Stones.. 4 rounds of Tabata stone to shoulder.. so, 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, 4 times.

My score was 19, with a 70+lb atlas stone. From the scores posted, that was one of the highest rep counts of the day. Only one other person got more, (22) and she was using a 45lb stone. Even the guys only did 19 reps!

So the WOD… This is where it got crazy.  I was super impressed with my time, because as I was going, I realized that I was keeping up with Kyle, who is one of the genetic beasts at the gym.  We were going, and I was like, no shit.. we’re kind of at the same pace here!

About halfway through though, I tripped on one of the box step ups, and threw my kettlebells by accident. I rammed my knee into the box and lost my footing. Not really embarrassing but annoying since it slowed me down.  Anyway, here’s what the WOD was:

4 rounds of Tabata Stone to shoulder
*score is total reps

5 rounds
20 Fire hose slams
7 HSPU
10 KB Step Ups 55/35 20″box

I finished in 9:53 and Kyle finished in 9:50. I couldn’t believe it!!! I was so excited that I was able to do something more cardio based, but with weights (KBs) included, that I was able to do it REALLY well. AWESOME. I was so pleased with myself. 🙂
