Today was the last Saturday workout until April, I believe! Not sure what I will do now with all this luxurious time I’ll have left over on the weekends now.. And without a Saturday workout, I’ll be even more inclined to drive the 17 miles each way to Einstein Bagels NOT THAT I WOULD DO THAT for the next 30 days or so or anything… maybe I’ll have to build up some sort of shopping habit or something.. or.. clean the house, or take the dogs to the dog park. Something worthwhile would be ideal! Hmm.. Well, I suppose we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, next week.
Today was a HUGE day at Crossfit Inertia! We had an entire girls’ softball team visit for the day, as well as my Mom, Mitch (one of our employees) and Robin, our friend and UPS Rep! Because of the large crowd, the Erins had to modify the workout to accommodate so many people. And now, what do you think we had in store for us? What’s free, heart-pumping, and everyone can go and do it? Running. Yes. My favorite. and LOTS of it, of course.. good lord.
Our warm up alone was a bit grueling, especially the 3 rounds of push ups in the back of the warehouse, gravel in the palms and all. A 200m warm up run, and then we moved right into our WOD.
3RFT or a max of 20 min
200m Run
30 box jumps (or air squats, I got to do the box jumps)
200m Run
30 KB swings (35lbs)
I got through one complete round, and was starting in on my 2nd set of 30 box jumps. Holy moly. Good thing Luke (Erin C’s husband) was there to motivate me.. I was ready to be done! Instead, he stood there and high fived me with every box jump I finished, right up to the end. Thanks Luke!
This was one of those workouts that when you’re done, nothing is comfortable. Sitting, standing, laying down, legs out, legs bent, NOTHING feels good. I had messed up my knees (left one particularly) during the lunges, long jumps and the run, all from the warm up in the beginning, but I pushed through it. I didn’t realize how much my left knee had been hurting til I tried to kneel down and sit back on my heels during our cool down stretching. PAAAIN. My left knee felt all swollen and stiff.
Luckily, I got to go see Jessica today over at Massage Envy this afternoon, and she worked on it quite a bit. Felt SO GOOD.. Later on though, during my Paleo Book Search, of course the Paleo books were floor level so I kneeled down to get them. Big mistake! My knees felt like they were going to explode from the pressure.. Getting back up was even weirder, because the pressure on my joints to lift myself back up was crazy. I hobbled around a bit more, and was thankful I didn’t have to climb any stairs. Hah.
Once I got home, I took some Advil and complained to Dave for awhile. Surprisingly, the Advil and complaining helped, not to mention doing absolutely nothing for the majority of the evening. Now, they’re both a bit stiff, but nothing like they were earlier. Advil actually worked, like I could do a commercial for them.
My chocolate chip bagels were delicious today. I even told the staff at Einsteins that I wouldn’t be in for a month, because of our Paleo challenge. They were shocked when I said I wouldn’t be around for 4 weeks! What does that tell you? I AM DEDICATED TO EINSTEINS ON SATURDAYS, that’s what. Those people know me. Oh well, they’ll know me next month too when I go in for my celebratory carbs.
Tomorrow – Spinning at 1:30p. Steve said he’d join me but we’ll see! Then Paleo and Crossfit at 11 on Monday!
