So…. my attempts at going to the gym were unsuccessful, however I did get my yoga on a few days, which at least.. we did SOMETHING, right? And Dave was gone, and my friends came into town (awesome!) AAAND I got the gross stomach bug that swept the Jax Beaches and beyond. Luckily it was only 24 hours (and happened on 3/12/14).
By the 13th, I felt amazing, and by the 14th, I was ready to take on 14.3. The cool thing was, my friends were here with me and we were going to do it together!
Now.. what’s so great about these people?? I have known Katie and Pete for YEARS. Like almost 10 years, but I never actually MET them in person. They were real life internet friends! People I’ve known since I first started riding motorcycles, and we’ve just kept in touch over the years. So awesome. Doubly awesome is… I have inspired them to try out and commit to a CrossFit routine up by where they live, simply because I did it myself. Katie has now been crossfitting for about a year-ish, and Pete just a couple months. And here Pete was, an avid anti-crossfit person, too! HAH. Kool-Aid tastes DELICIOUS. 😉 (kidding) Mmmmmm..
Pete had a track day in Jennings, FL, which is Dave’s and my favorite track in FL. The problem is, we just don’t really ride anymore, so to go to a track day is completely not going to happen. He figured since he’d be so close to us (about 2 hours) that he’d go ahead and make the drive over to the Jax area and spend a few days here. Katie was able to get time off work, and flew in Wednesday night (the very ending of my gross stomach bug) and we were able to spend 3 awesome days together!
Thursday was awesome. I got to show them the offices, we went to breakfast, we went to Town Center, we wandered all over the place, and then we went to the gym for the 14.3 announcement.
AND FINALLYYYYYYYYYY. A WOD we could all do!! Deadlifts and box jumps. Thank you Lord!
Friday, at 10a, we all did the WOD together. Pete and I went in the first heat, and then Katie went in the 2nd heat, so we got to cheer her on!!
To be able to WOD with these awesome people was probably one of the neatest experiences so far. My internet friends were now my real life friends, too! We had a BLAST. I ended up scoring 106, which is great, because literally, my goal was like 80, hah. Katie got 95 (FUCK YEAH!) AND.. Pete got 105.
I was so proud of Pete and Katie though! As a new Crossfitter, he did so well! And she ended up destroying those deadlifts! So proud of these two. So so so proud!! *beaming*
Seriously, check out how cute we are!
